Make Compliance Certification a smooth process

What we will be looking for when we visit you is EVIDENCE OF THE FOLLOWING: click the links to more detailed requirement pages.
- HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES INVENTORY / REGISTER - Construct your inventory (list) of substances, package sizes and quantities - this will be a living document as your business evolves and will guide you on what compliance requirements there are for each substances
- SDS - safety data sheets - ensure you keep a current SDS for each substance in your inventory - current means within 5 years of issue. Check out our SDS page and see if we have a more up to date copy of your suppliers safety data sheet and download it.
- SITE PLAN - find your existing site plan and ensure it still reflects the way you store substances on your site, ensure it has controlled zones and hazardous areas marked on each storage facility> It needs to be to drawn to a scale with the scale noted on the document and it needs to show the property boundary. If not get the site plan upgraded - see site plan page
- FIRE EXTINGUISHERS - do you have the right quantity, type and are they in test date (test tagged), are they accessible - please note for LPG your extinguisher MUST be a dry powder type (white collar around the extinguisher) , minimum 2kg 30:B capacity
- ERP - your emergency response plan MUST be reviewed and tested AT LEAST annually with records kept for a minimum of 2 years. To download a new one click below with can be printed or stored electronically click below.

- SEND YOUR ERP TO FIRE AND EMERGENCY - you are required to send your emergency response plan to fire and emergency - this can be by email just keep a record of when you sent it. - SIGNAGE - is all your signage current, correct and in a good condition and visible within 10 metres on approach, does it have the HAZCHEM classification on it. Schedule 3 is linked into the signage page and defines the voluem for each substance to trigger the signage requirement
- ELECTRICAL certification - if your site requires an electrical cert , is it current, if not contact your electrical inspector to arrange a renewal visit (these people are often in high demand so make sure you contact them well in advance of when you need your electrical renewed to schedule it.
- TRAINING - Ensure you create a training register with all your staff and the training and supervision options - this will be a living document that changes as your staff and business evolve. Look at our training page for ways you can meet this requirement. This is critical as previously one Approved Handler was sufficient THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE - Now all staff who handle a hazardous substance must have training, guidance and instruction.
